Mohammad Navid Safiullah comes of a respectable Muslim family of Chittagong. He was born on December 30, 1969, in Jessore. His father Major General Dr AKM Safiullah Khan was the former Chief Physician and Head of the Department of Medicine in the Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka Cantonment. Mohammad Navid Safiullah had his early education in a British English Medium School in Tripoli, Libya. He completed SSC and HSC from Adamjee Cantonment School and College, Dhaka Cantonment. He obtained Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Literature and Masters in English Linguistics from the University of Dhaka. He attained MBA on Digital Technologies Management (DTM) from Royal Roads, a renowned Public University in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and also had Masters in Governance and Development from the BRAC University, Bangladesh.
Mohammad Navid Safiullah joined Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) Cadre on 15 November 1995. Since then, he served in various capacities as Assistant Commissioner & Magistrate, Gazipur, Assistant Secretary, Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat, Ministry of Jute, Senior Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tract Affairs. He also worked as Deputy Director, Local Government and Magistrate of the First Class, in Bogra and Senior Assistant Secretary in the Economic Relations Division (ERD) under the Ministry of Finance. Prior to his appointment as the Private Secretary to the Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission, he served as Upazilla Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Chunarughat, Habiganj. Prior to joining as Director of Governance Innovation Unit (GIU) of the Prime Minister’s Office, he served as Deputy Secretary in the Planning Division.
Mr Navid attended a number of Professional training courses both at home and abroad. Among them, Foundation Training Course offered by Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (BPATC) Savar, Law & Administration Course organized by Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy, BCS Orientation Course arranged by Bangladesh Military Academy, Bhatiary, Chittagong, Survey and Settlement Training organized by Directorate of Land Records and Survey, Tejgaon, Dhaka, Training Programme on Civil Service Reforms by Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, Brighton, United Kingdom, KOICA’s Special Training Programme on Economic Development Strategy at Seoul, South Korea, Swedish International Development Agency’s (SIDA) International Training Programme on Public Service Management at Stockholm, Sweden and SIDA’s Regional Seminar on Public Service Management in Beijing, China are worth mentioning.
To date, Mr. Navid has delivered talks in various Public Training Institutions namely Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy, Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC), Police Staff College, Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy, National Academy for Training and Development, Department of Public Administration, Dhaka University on English Linguistics, Good Governance, Leadership, Public Service Innovation and Performance Management. In official capacity, he has so far visited UK, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark, Turkey, Qatar, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China and South Korea. Mohammad Navid Safiullah is an enlisted singer of Bangladesh Television. He is a free-lance painter, takes keen interest in writing articles for the newspapers and journals. He enjoys traveling. He also has great fascination for interior decoration and gardening (architectural landscaping). Mr. Navid is happily married to Sonya Rahman. They are blessed with a son and a daughter.
